Shalom Parents,
On Wednesday night, Ilanot participated in a very special program, on the evening of Tisha B'av. This holiday commemorates the destruction of the first and second Temples in Jerusalem, and other tragedies that have occurred to the Jewish people. The program talked about some of these events, and we read exerpts from the book of Eich by candlelight.
On Thursday our program was a bit different in the morning, as Ilanot campers participated in a program led by the yahadut staff here at camp. Each bunk had the opportunity to 'choose their own adventure' as they were faced with different obstacles and challenges that Jews may have faced in the past. Campers reported really enjoying this program! In the afternoon, we resumed our regular activities, and our CIT's from Nivonim came to do an activity with us in the evening. We are really looking forward to Shabbat, as an opportunity to rest and relax for the coming week. I hope all is well with you, and Shabbat Shalom!

Shalom Ilanot! The activity that the staff had the campers do on Wednesday and Thursday sounds amazing. I read about it in the newsletter that Rabbi Gelb sends to us. I'm looking forward to hearing abot it first hand from my daughter, but I'm sure it was meaningful and gave the kids food for thought. How wonderful to hear that our children chose, with conviction, to live free as Jews. It's almost Shabbat and I know this is typically everyone's favorite part of the week. I hope you have great weather and tons of fun as you unwind and relax from a busy week!
Shabbat Shalom
